Located on the west coast of the province of Almería, lies on a coastal strip from the tip that gives its name to the salt calls Viejas, between the towns of El Ejido and Roquetas de Mar. The most common shrubs in the area are the Corsican juniper, the bufalaga navy and black hawthorn. Moreover, the diversity of biotypes area favors presence of flamingos and other migratory birds.
In this place there is also a nature reserve that shares the same name place.
It is accessible by the local road of Roquetas de Mar, to the lighthouse of Punta del Juniper; or by road from El Ejido and Almerimar towards urbanization. Both roads they are connected by a path bordered on the north by the whole place.
